A free 3D virtual world in your browser, made in India
Updated
Mangos Land is a free 3D virtual world that runs in the web browser on your phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to download. It is made in Bengaluru (Bangalore), and the city is its biggest place: streets built in 3D from OpenStreetMap, where you walk as your own character and meet other real players. It is for adults only, 18+.
What makes something a virtual world?
A virtual world is a computer-made place, usually in 3D, that many people share over the internet at the same time, each as a character of their own. It is there whether or not you are, and what happens in it, from walking about to talking and meeting people, happens live among the people who are in it.
Why can I try Mangos Land straight away?
- It is free. Playing costs nothing. Extras cost Mango coins, which have no money value and can't be cashed out.
- Nothing to download. It runs in the web browser of a phone, tablet or computer: open the page and play. There is no app to install.
- Graphics that suit your device. There are three graphics modes, High, Low and Lite. On Auto, the game picks one from what your device reports, then steps down a mode if the picture stays slow, so older phones end up on a lighter mode by themselves. You can also choose one yourself in Help, under Display.
- Touch or keys. On a phone you walk with an on-screen joystick; on a computer, with the W, A, S and D keys.
- Adults only, 18+. Everyone ticks a box to confirm they are 18 or older. There is no ID check.
- Look around as a guest, talk with an account. Guests can walk about; chatting, talking by voice and paying for rides with coins need a free account, made by signing in with Google.
Where can I go in Mangos Land?
Bengaluru is built in depth. You can start at Cubbon Park, MG Road or Palace Grounds, and keep walking: new streets load from OpenStreetMap as you go. Around Cubbon Park and MG Road there are buses, autos and taxis to ride, and stands of cycles and motorbikes.
As of 27 October 2026, you can also start at 9 landmarks in other parts of the world. Each is a single start place, not a whole city:
- Gateway of India, Mumbai
- Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo
- Trafalgar Square, London
- Champ de Mars, Paris
- Times Square, New York
- Central Park, New York
- Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro
- Giza Plateau, near Cairo
- Sydney Opera House, Sydney
Day and night in each place follow its real local time, so one start place can be in daylight while another is dark.

How is a virtual world different from the metaverse and VR?
| Feature | Virtual world | Metaverse | VR |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | A place: a shared online world that many people are in at once, each as a character | An idea: many virtual worlds and online spaces joined up, so you could take one identity from one to the next | A device: a headset that fills your view with a 3D picture and follows your head as it turns |
| Do you need a headset? | Usually not: most run on an ordinary screen | No: the idea covers worlds on a screen too | Yes: the headset is what makes it VR |
| Shared with other people? | Yes: other people being there is the point | Yes | Not always: many VR apps are for one person |
| Mangos Land | Yes: a 3D virtual world on the screen of a phone, tablet or computer | No: it is one world on its own, not joined up with others | No: it has no VR mode |
In short: VR is a way of seeing, a virtual world is a place, and the metaverse is the idea of many such places joined together.
What other Indian virtual worlds are there?
Mangos Land is not the first Indian virtual world. These are the Indian projects we found reported in the press, as of October 2026, each described as its source described it at the time. We have not checked which of them are still open, and Mangos Land has no link with any of them.
- GoJiyo, launched in 2010: an in-browser virtual world from Godrej, where members made an avatar and were given virtual money, called Mio, to buy things (afaqs!, March 2010).
- Loka, described in September 2021: a multiplayer virtual world built on 3D maps of real places, among them Connaught Place in Delhi, Marine Drive in Mumbai and MG Road in Bengaluru (Analytics India Magazine, September 2021).
- Luru, launched at the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2022: a virtual version of Bengaluru from Unboxing Bangalore and GMetriXR, starting with an area inspired by Church Street (Analytics India Magazine, November 2022).
- BLR Metaport, first phase launched in December 2022: a 3D virtual version of Terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, from Bangalore International Airport Limited, which visitors tour from a website (Airport Technology, December 2022; The South First, December 2022).
Questions people ask
What is a virtual world?
An online place, usually in 3D, that many people share at once, each as their own character, where they move about, talk and do things together live. Mangos Land is one: a 3D Bengaluru (Bangalore) you enter from your web browser.
Is there a free virtual world I can play in my browser without downloading?
Yes: Mangos Land. It is free, runs in the web browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and has nothing to install. You walk a 3D Bengaluru built from OpenStreetMap, or start at one of 9 landmarks elsewhere in the world, and meet other real players. It is for adults only, 18+.
Is there an Indian virtual world or metaverse I can join today?
Mangos Land is one: it is made in Bengaluru, it is free, and it opens in your web browser. Other Indian projects, such as GoJiyo, Loka, Luru and BLR Metaport, have appeared over the years: the list of other Indian virtual worlds on this page says what each one was, with its source.
What is the difference between a virtual world, the metaverse and VR?
A virtual world is a shared online place you enter as a character. The metaverse is the wider idea of many such worlds and spaces joined up. VR (virtual reality) is a headset that puts a 3D picture all around you: some virtual worlds can be used with one, but most, Mangos Land included, work on an ordinary screen.
Do I need a VR headset for Mangos Land?
No. Mangos Land has no VR mode: you play it on the screen of a phone, tablet or computer, with touch or a keyboard and mouse.
Will Mangos Land run on an older phone?
It may. Mangos Land has three graphics modes, and on Auto it moves a slower phone to a lighter one, Low or Lite, by itself. A very old phone can still be slow, so the simplest test is to open it and try: it is free.
