Cubbon Park in 3D: walk Bengaluru's green heart online

Updated

Mangos Land lets you walk Cubbon Park in Bengaluru (Bangalore) in 3D, free in your web browser. It is the start place the game picks for you unless you choose another: lawns, paths and trees built from OpenStreetMap, with benches, lamps and a chai cart. Everyone else you meet there is a real player, apart from the café staff, police, security and drivers.

  • Footballs on the grass to kick about
  • Story boards beside the paths, showing players' public stories

Can I meet people and play there?

  • Sit on any bench.
  • Kick a football across the lawn.
  • Chat by text with the people within about 40 m, or talk by voice within about 35 m. Both need a free account; guests can look around.
  • Collect golden rings when admins scatter them: the first person to pass through a ring takes its coins (free account).
  • Take a cycle or motorbike from a stand for free, or hire an auto or taxi to MG Road or Palace Grounds.
  • Catch a bus at the Vidhana Soudha or KR Circle stop, a short walk away. Buses from there go to Majestic Bus Station, Shivajinagar Bus Station, Mekhri Circle, Richmond Circle and Brigade Road.

Some rides cost a few coins (free account).

Golden rings, each labelled with its coins, float above the grass in Mangos Land's Cubbon Park, near a bench, a lamp post, a flower bed and a paved path.

What is the real Cubbon Park like?

The real Cubbon Park, also named Sri Chamarajendra Park, is a public park in the centre of Bengaluru, first laid out in 1870. Wikipedia describes its rock outcrops, trees, bamboo, grassy lawns and flowerbeds.

In the park you walk in Mangos Land, the paths and lawns follow OpenStreetMap. It is a game world, not a copy: the benches, lamps and many of the trees are placed by the game, and the buildings in and around the park are simple shapes.
